Tell us your Don Ho Story … Win his new autobiography

don_ho_story_win_autobiographyHAWAII Magazine editor John Heckathorn tells a great Don Ho story. It’s not his own Don Ho story. But it’s a good Don Ho story.

At the launch party for the late vocalist’s new autobiography Don Ho: My Music, My Life, John spoke with former Honolulu TV news reporter/personality Linda Coble. In the 1980s, Coble hosted an Emmy-winning KGMB show called People in Paradise.

Coble recalled asking Ho, on camera, how he wanted to be remembered.

Replied Ho: "Remembered? I'm trying to get people to forget things I've done."

Classic Don.

Got a good Don Ho story of your own?

E-mail it to letters@hawaiimagazine.com and you could win a copy of Ho’s autobiography.  The copy is signed by about 20 of Ho’s family and friends interviewed in the book. The list of autographs includes musicians who played with Ho over the years — Alii’s guitarist Benny Chong, yodeler/banjo player Tokyo Joe, vocalists Sam Kapu and Angel Pablo — plus son Dwight Ho and even Coble.

Send us your story via e-mail only by Feb. 28 — include a phone number we can contact you at. We’ll choose a winner on March 1.

Good luck! Hang loose.
