What does “aloha” look like to you?
The couple on the table next to you in a Hilo restaurant who put their breakfast on hold to make sure you had the correct driving directions to Akaka Falls? Hundreds of strangers clutching hands at a Hawaii music concert to sing “Hawaii Aloha” in unison? The ukulele player on Front Street in Lahaina offering free five-minute lessons to all takers?
If you think you’ve taken a photo that captures the best visual definition of the word “aloha,” you could win free Hawaii vacations, digital cameras and more in Starwood Hawaii and Sony’s “Share Your Aloha Photo Contest.”
From now through Sept. 30, 2010, upload to Starwood Hawaii’s Facebook site any digital photo(s) you’ve taken, which you feel best conveys “what aloha looks like to you.” A panel of judges will select 20 finalists from all photos collected and post them back on Starwood Hawaii’s Facebook site on Oct. 6, 2010.
From there, visitors to the site will help judges select the contest’s grand-prize winning photo, and choose seven additional “fan favorite” prize-winning photos from the 20 finalists.
The grand-prize winner will receive a “2011 Sony Open in Hawaii Dream Vacation" package, including …
• Three nights each at the Sheraton Waikiki, The Royal Hawaiian, Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa and Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa.
• Two weekly passes to the 2011 Sony Open in Hawaii.
• One round of golf for one (either winner or companion) with a PGA Tour pro in the Satellite Pro-Am during the vacation.
• Two tickets to a Pro-Am awards dinner, featuring a live performance by a Sony Music Entertainment artist.
• Two tickets to an advanced screening of a Sony Pictures Entertainment movie.
• A Sony Cybershot Digital Camera TX5
“Fan Favorite” winners will receive one of seven 5-night stays at one of the following Starwood Hawaii properties: the Westin Maui Resort & Spa, St. Regis Princeville Resort, Moana Surfrider, Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas, Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas, Sheraton Kauai Resort or Sheraton Princess Kaiulani. All “Fan Favorite” winners will also receive a Sony Cybershot Digital Camera TX5.
If you’re still dreaming of a Hawaii vacation, and haven’t been here to experience our homegrown “aloha” spirit first hand, you’re not excluded from entering. The contest is open to “aloha” photos shot anywhere in the world, not just in Hawaii.
For more information, official contest rules, eligibility requirements, a complete list of prizes or to enter, visit Starwood Hawaii & Sony’s “Share Your Aloha Photo Contest” Facebook site.
Good luck! Aloha!
