Want to extend your Memorial Day weekend into a whole week? Two Hawaii-based airlines—Island Air and Hawaiian Airlines—have fare sales happening now. Travel dates for the Island Air sale begin this weekend and Hawaiian Airlines' sale travel dates start next Tuesday (May 26).
Earlier this month we shared that interisland airline Island Air would discontinue service to Kauai beginning June 1. The axed flights to Lihue, Kauai include six daily round trips from Honolulu, and five flights from Kahului, Maui with four return times daily. To say goodbye, the airline is currently offering 20 percent off on those routes through the end of the month. To qualify, tickets must be booked through their website using the promo code KAUAI.
When we checked the before-discount one-way fares between Honolulu and Lihue, prices ranged from $68 to $124 for economy restricted tickets (non-refundable, non-transferrable) depending on date and time of day. That means, if you timed it right, you could score a ticket for as low as $54. Fares between Kahului and Lihue were between $103 and $184 for economy restricted tickets prior to the discount. The discounted fares are non-refundable and non-transferrable and so would negate the benefits of booking an economy unrestricted (refundable) ticket to Kauai through the sale. All flights must be taken by June 1; other taxes, fees and restrictions may apply. To learn more about Island Air’s discounted Kauai fares, click here.
Meanwhile, Hawaiian Airlines has fares as low as $68 one-way, inclusive of taxes and fees, for flights to several interisland destinations. Fare sale flights dates are between May 26 and June 17, 2015. The $68 fare is valid for the airline’s one-way non-stop flights between Honolulu and Kahului, Lihue, Lanai or Molokai. Fares on their other one-way, non-stop flights—including between Honolulu and Kona or Hilo on Hawaii Island, and between Kahului and Lihue, Kona or Hilo—start at $75. Restrictions may apply. To qualify for the fare sale, tickets must be purchased by Memorial Day (Mon., May 25). To learn more about Hawaiian Airlines’ fare sale, click here.
