Peter Lik has cemented his position as one of the most important and influential fine artists of the 21st Century. LIK is the most awarded and collected fine art photographer in the world. Internationally acclaimed for his panoramic landscape photography, he has already grown one of the largest collector bases of any artist in history.
Lik’s unique ability to make the sublime beautiful, while capturing the world in such a profound style, has inspired millions. His passionate approach and larger-than-life, full-throttle persona have contributed to his newly anointed position as the worldwide ambassador for nature.
Current demand for his work continues to be astonishingly strong, and global primary market sales have eclipsed the $150 million mark. Lik’s notable and long list of master works of iconic imagery includes: “Ghost,” “Ancient Spirit,” “Sacred Sunrise,” “Angel’s Heart,” and “The Tree of Life,” to name only a few.
Lik emerged from considerably humble beginnings to become a respected and honored pioneer of contemporary photography. Born in Melbourne, Australia to Czech immigrants, Peter’s talent for photography became evident very early on. For his eighth birthday, his parents gave him a Kodak Brownie camera and some film. A quick self-study, Peter was instantaneously transformed by the power of a photographic image and his ability to capture the beauty of nature.
Traveling to the United States on an ambitious mission to explore by van and shoot the landscapes of all fifty states in 1984, Peter’s fascination with photography took a career-defining turn when he discovered the encompassing view of panoramic cameras.
Lik returned to Australia and launched a successful fine art publishing company featuring his books and calendars. Ten years later, he opened his first gallery in his hometown of Cairns. As his popularity soared, he expanded into the United States. The Peter Lik Galleries have grown into the largest gallery network in America.
Peter Lik has been accepted and awarded as a master photographer by both the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) and by the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), as well as being awarded a fellowship with the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP), marking a historical moment in the field of photography. Lik is one of the only photographers in the world to ever achieve this level of recognition.
Peter made photographic history again in 2010, winning several coveted North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) awards and featuring “Pele’s Whisper” as the first ever wrap-around cover for NANPA’s Expressions magazine.
Lik continues to expand his talent beyond his own lens. NBC’s Peacock Productions signed Lik to star in an action/adventure reality series. It will feature Peter, the characters he meets, and his incredible adventures to the far reaches of the earth—to get the shot.
