HAWAII Magazine's 10th Annual Photo Contest




Like to win a trip to Hawaii? Send us your best photos, and you might be our next lucky winner—of a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii.

Please read the contest rules (below) carefully. You may enter up to eight (8) photos (no more than two per category) by Aug. 8, 2008.

There will be nine prizes—one grand prize, four first-place and four second-place prizes. Winners will be published in the January/February 2009 issue of HAWAII Magazine.

Enter your photos in one of the following four categories: Oahu, Maui, Big Island and Kauai. The photos can be of anything—people, places, things—but, of course, they need to shot on the island in question.

GRAND PRIZE

Airfare for two to Honolulu from your nearest Hawaiian Airlines gateway city [(800) 367-5320]

MORE PRIZES

First place winners will receive $100, a gift basket of from Lanikai Bath and Body and a book prize package from Watermark Publishing. Second place winners will receive $75 and a book prize package from Watermark Publishing.



Official Contest Rules

  1. All contest entries must be received by Aug. 8, 2008.
  2. HAWAII Magazine’s contest is open to all photographers, except employees of HAWAII Magazine, PacificBasin Communications and aio Group.
  3. Send color slides, prints (no glass-mounted slides) or digital images only. High-quality duplicates are acceptable. Digital images must arrive on CD, one image per CD (do not e-mail photos), and must be 300 dpi; TIFF, EPS or JPG format; RGB and 8 bit. A color print must accompany each digital image.
  4. Contestants may enter two (2) photographs per category for a maximum of eight (8) entries. Each entry must be submitted separately, one per envelope. Please write the category of the photograph on the front of the envelope, near the lower left corner.
  5. Only photos taken in Hawaii are eligible. All photos should state when and where they were taken and (if possible) include the names of people pictured.
  6. Each photograph must have a separate, completed entry form. Photocopies of the entry form are acceptable.
  7. HAWAII Magazine and PacificBasin Communications are not responsible for lost or damaged photos.
  8. Please do not send original slides. Photos will not be returned.
  9. Please do not send any previously published photographs.  (That does not include Reader Photos of the Week posted on HawaiiMagazine.com. All those photos are eligible.)
  10. Do not contact HAWAII Magazine or PacificBasin Communications regarding the photo contest. We will notify winners after the final judging by HAWAII Magazine’s staff.
  11. HAWAII Magazine and PacificBasin Communications reserve the right to publish all winning photographs and to utilize them in the marketing and promotion of HAWAII Magazine and PacificBasin Communications.
  12. HAWAII Magazine reserves the right to publish photo contest entries for editorial purposes in HAWAII Magazine and on HawaiiMagazine.com.
