The Battleship Missouri Memorial, located a mere ship’s length from the USS Arizona Memorial, completes a historical visitor experience that begins with the “day of infamy” that saw the sinking of USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor and ends with Imperial Japan’s unconditional surrender aboard USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay. Following an astounding career that spans five decades and three wars, from World War II to the Korean conflict to the Liberation of Kuwait, the “Mighty Mo” was decommissioned and is now a proud tribute to the U.S. Navy, veterans and the historic role the USS Missouri played in World War II.
The Battleship Missouri is open daily from 8 am to 4 pm (extended hours in the summer). General admission includes guided and self-guided tour options. For a behind the scenes look, add the “Heart of the Missouri Tour”. For more information or to make reservations, call (toll-free) 1-877-644-4896 or visit USSMissouri.org.

The Honolulu Museum of Art is the place to see the best of the islands’ contemporary artists. The exhibition Hawai‘i in Design features traditional wood surfboards, modern furniture, slyly subversive T-shirts, and gowns made of trash bags—by artists who make sense of Hawai‘i as a place where natural and urban elements, local and global aesthetics intersect. On view through 2016.
Enjoy lunch and shop at two beautiful locations—one near downtown, the other above the city with a stunning view of Diamond Head.
