Anyone who’s grown up as a Pokémon fan has had a great year. “Pikachu Detective” brought dreams into reality by incorporating Pokémon into the real world, and the announcement of two new Pokémon games, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, has only increased the Pokémon-mania.
And now Hawaii fans will have something to look forward to in 2020, as PokéBar, a pop-up Pokémon-themed bar, will be opening its doors in Honolulu . Although the exact dates and location have yet to be announced—you can stay up to date by signing up for the Pokébar's newsletter on its website—Poké-maniacs will be happy to know that there will be adorable, almost-too-cute-to-eat burgers shaped like some of the video game’s most iconic monsters such as Pikachu, Bulbasaur and Squirtle.
Other attractions include a deejay, who will be spinning classic Pokémon tunes (PokéRap, anybody?) all night, interactive games, card-battling stations, trivia and even a cosplay contest, with the best dressed winning a special prize.
If this concept sounds familiar, the events company putting this on—Viral Ventures—has hosted other PokéBar pop-ups in Australian and North American cities and recently announced upcoming dates in New York, Miami and Los Angeles.
There’s a limited number of entry tickets, so you should pre-register for tickets now on the Pokébar’s website. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. And keiki (children) are welcome as long as they’re accompanied by an adult over the age of 21.
