Go behind the scenes in Hāliʻimaile at one of Hawaiʻi’s last remaining pineapple plantations. This guided group tour offers a rare look into the locally owned and operated farm, with guests getting to see what it takes to produce the iconic Maui Gold pineapple—from postharvest processing and back to cultivation and planting.

The experience starts at the Maui Pineapple Store, where you’ll find a selection of locally made products, many of which feature the same Maui Gold pineapple you’ll learn about on the tour.

After check-in, guides distribute hairnets and lead guests into the packing house, where pineapples are sorted and prepped for distribution. The guests then board a bus that takes them deep into the plantation’s fields. Along the way, their guides share rich knowledge about pineapples, including their storied history in Hawaiʻi, how the plantation operates and expert tips for picking the perfect one. (Fun fact: Heavier pineapples tend to be juicer; smaller ones are often sweeter.)

The tour stops in a couple of fields, providing guests a chance to take photos and sample freshly picked pineapples. Each guest is also given a pineapple packaged in an airport-ready box.

For a more indulgent experience, upgrade to the Farm & Feast Experience, which includes the full tour followed by a four-course farm-to-table dinner at Hāliʻimaile General Store. The meal ends, naturally, with a Maui Gold pineapple upside-down cake.
