Hawaiʻi Under Tsunami Warning After a Magnitude 8.8 Earthquake Hits Russia
A tsunami warning has been issued for the Islands.

A tsunami warning has been issued for Hawaiʻi after a major earthquake rattled Russia. Warning sirens first sounded at 3:23 p.m. HST on July 29, 2025.
The National Weather Service issued the warning at 2:43 p.m. According to the National Weather Service, an 8.8 magnitude earthquake occurred off the east coast of Kamchatka at approximately 1:25 p.m.
In an alert message, state emergency officials said the estimated arrival time of the first tsunami wave in Hawaiʻi is at 7:10 p.m. HST in Hanalei in Kauaʻi.
