Celebrated Chef Roy Yamaguchi Debuts New Dining Destination on Kauaʻi
The pioneering chef has partnered with Outrigger Kauaʻi Beach Resort & Spa to launch a new oceanfront restaurant showcasing the island’s farmers, ranchers and fishermen.

This June, Outrigger Kauaʻi Beach Resort & Spa unveiled a transformed property featuring elevated accommodations, refreshed gathering spaces and a new culinary destination.

Created in partnership with internationally acclaimed chef Roy Yamaguchi, a pioneer of Hawaiʻi Regional Cuisine, Ocean House by Roy Yamaguchi reflects a shared commitment to highlighting the people, ingredients and traditions that define the Islands’ culinary scene.

“When we first began envisioning Ocean House, what excited me most was the opportunity to create something that truly belongs here,” Roy Yamaguchi said in a press statement. “Kauaʻi has an incredible community of farmers, fishermen and producers, and every dish is inspired by their work. We want guests to experience the flavors of this island in a way that feels genuine, memorable and deeply connected to place.”

Outrigger Kauaʻi Beach Resort & Spa celebrated the renovation and new partnership with Yamaguchi during a grand reopening ceremony on June 22. During the event, Yamaguchi reflected on the philosophy behind the restaurant: “Every great meal starts with the hands that fish, farm and ranch—finished with a little butter, seasoned with salt from this island and shared with love.”

Led by Yamaguchi and Executive Chef Sam Taganeca, the restaurant’s menu is inspired by Kauaʻi’s farmers and thriving fishing community. Working closely with local farmers, ranchers and fishermen, the culinary team designed a menu that celebrates the island’s bounty through thoughtful sourcing and bold, flavor-driven dishes that show deep respect for place.

Signature dishes at Ocean House include the Kauaʻi Bag and Boil, which features local shrimp, fresh catch, clams, Portuguese sausage and corn in a brown butter coconut sauce. Other standouts include sashimi, inventive sushi selections, handcrafted noodles and seasonal dishes that reflect the unique flavors of Hawaiʻi.

Located on the island’s eastern shore, the resort and restaurant celebrate Kauaʻi’s culture, cuisine and sense of place for both visitors and locals.
