L&L Hawaiian Barbecue is celebrating the 5th annual National SPAM Musubi on Aug. 8, 2025, a holiday created by the local company back in 2021. National SPAM Musubi Day is an homage to the rich cultural story behind the SPAM musubi—from its Japanese roots to its evolution to an iconic Island staple. And the date for the holiday (8/08), is a nod to Hawaiʻi’s 808 area code.
You can celebrate National SPAM Musubi Day by visiting L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. From 12 to 2 p.m. local time at L&L locations across the country, you can grab one free SPAM musubi. Select locations in Hawaiʻi are even holding delicious giveaways.
“As we celebrate five years of National SPAM Musubi Day, we continue to honor this small but mighty snack and its
significance in Hawaiʻi’s culinary history,” said Elisia Flores, chief executive officer of L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. “We’re
proud to bring a taste of the islands to communities across the U.S. and invite everyone to experience the aloha spirit
and iconic snack food of Hawaiʻi.”
