These 3 resort pools make a grand splash

When you’re seeking theme park-style water slides, secluded nooks or swim-through waterfalls, dive into these pools on Hawaii Island and Maui.

Ready to dive in? When you want to make a splash, it's safe to say that these are some of the grandest pools around.

The tropical gardens surrounding Montage Kapalua Bay’s multi-tiered, blue pools with waterfalls and a lagoon provide an alluring backdrop for a brilliantly designed outdoor space. Though other Maui resorts may have larger pools, Montage’s was architected with so many secluded nooks and entry stairs, descending from numerous private oases of daybeds and chaise lounges, that guests feel like they have their own part of the pool to themselves.

Grand Wailea, Maui

Kids and teens dream of a pool like the one at Maui’s Grand Wailea. Its Wailea Canyon Activity Pool is made up of nine pools and at least four slides, connected by a river that carries people lazily through its caves and under waterfalls by inflatable tubes. At sunset, kids line up at the Jacuzzi to mingle with each other, while their parents can be found at the swim-up Grotto Bar or the adults-only Hibiscus Pool ordering daiquiris and wading around the hibiscus flower inlaid into the mosaic tile.

Like most things on the Big Island, the Hilton Waikoloa Village’s pool is sprawling. There are three: the Kona pool features the crowd-favorite, 175-foot twisting waterslide and swim-through waterfalls, the Kohala pool with smaller waterslides and lazy river, and an adults-only Ocean Tower pool.
