Find Sushi, Spirits and Sake at This South Shore Spot
Stevenson’s Library on Kauaʻi turns a new page with a refreshed experience inspired by its literary namesake.

Stevenson’s Library has long been a distinctive destination for sushi and cocktails.

Located at the Grand Hyatt Kauaʻi Resort & Spa on the island’s south shore, Stevenson’s draws diners with creative sushi, specialty sake, aged Scotch and craft cocktails, all paired with expansive ocean and resort views.

The resort recently unveiled a refreshed design and culinary experience inspired by the travels and writings of author Robert Louis Stevenson, best known for his novels “Treasure Island,” “Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” and “Kidnapped.”

Led by sushi chef Jin Hosono, the restaurant’s signature dishes reflect Stevenson’s life and literary works, drawing inspiration from the places he lived and visited.

Blending local and Japanese influences, the menu features ingredients grown on Kauaʻi and sustainably sourced seafood, with offerings ranging from sushi and sashimi to ramen. The restaurant’s signature waʻa (canoe) puts a spin on the traditional sushi boat, featuring a thoughtful selection of flavors. Guests can also enjoy a tasting experience that pairs chef Jin’s omakase sushi with Scotch, American and Japanese whiskies.

“Stevenson’s Library has long been a favorite gathering place for our guests, and we are excited to introduce its next chapter,” resort manager Erik Noh said in a news release. “Chef Jin brings remarkable creativity and experience to the menu, inviting guests on a culinary journey that celebrates the flavors of the Pacific.”

Inside, diners will find a refined yet relaxed setting with rich green, cashew hues, warm wood tones and palm leaf accents. The new Wasabi Room offers semi-private dining for up to 16 guests, with an intimate atmosphere and ocean views.
